Improving your Craft
This meeting is free and open to the public
Join us for
a workshop session for writers of all genres. Joyce Walters will discuss Stephen
King’s book On Writing. Ray Zimmerman will lead two activities for writers
wanting to structure their journaling experience and develop a journal as a
source of raw material useful for refinement into nonfiction, fiction, and poetic
works.
Marla H. Thurman has published numerous articles
and spiritual reflections in various venues including the East
Tennessee Catholic, Catholic Digest, The National
Catholic Reporter, Insync Magazine, and Sage
of Consciousness Magazine. While her spiritual reflections
seem to have the easiest times finding homes in the publishing
world, Marla is writing her memoirs and numerous short stories
based on her life and she hopes to find homes for these efforts,
as well. She has so far sold nine creative nonfiction stories
to CommonTies ezine since March 2007. Her short story,
"A Call to Change," was recently published in the book
Living the Serenity Prayer. Marla lives on Signal Mountain
with her dogs, Oreo and Sleeper and she tutors and edits to support
her writing habit. Her dream is that one day soon she will be
wildly successful as a writer and that her favorite author, Pat
Conroy (The Prince of Tides, The Great Santini),
will one day ask for her autograph.
