Improving your Craft
This meeting is free and open to the public
Join us for
a workshop session for writers of all genres. Joyce Walters will discuss Stephen
King’s book On Writing. Ray Zimmerman will lead two activities for writers
wanting to structure their journaling experience and develop a journal as a
source of raw material useful for refinement into nonfiction, fiction, and poetic
works.
Jerry is one of ten children, born and raised
in Alabama. He enlisted in the Air Force at 18
and served in New Mexico, Thailand and England. After his
discharge he attended Mobile College and there met and married
Vickie Walters. Jerry holds two degrees from Southwestern
Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. He has served
as the pastor of the Jonesboro Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Texas
and as the pastor of the Bodenburg Butte Baptist Church in Palmer,
Alaska. He retired from full time ministry in 2001 but continues
to serve as a USAF chaplain in the Civil A ir Patrol where he
hold's the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He and Vickie make
their home in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee where Jerry has worked in
Nuclear Security since 9/11.
Jerry and Vickie have two children, Ginger, who is a student
at Northeastern University in Boston, MA where she is working
on a degree in Linguistics, with a minor in American Sign Language.
Dean is in the Coast Guard serving in Virginia Beach, Va.
They also have one granddaughter, Apryl, who was born in 2001.
Jerry has had a passion for reading and writing since he was
a child. His first novel, KNIGHTHAWKE, was published
