Improving your Craft
This meeting is free and open to the public
Join us for
a workshop session for writers of all genres. Joyce Walters will discuss Stephen
King’s book On Writing. Ray Zimmerman will lead two activities for writers
wanting to structure their journaling experience and develop a journal as a
source of raw material useful for refinement into nonfiction, fiction, and poetic
works.
My name is Sherry
Poff. I am a mother of four, wife of one, and teacher of many.
I have a degree in education from Concord College in Athens,
West Virginia, and an MA in English/Writing from the University
of Tennessee in Chattanooga.
I have lived in Chattanooga
since 1978, but am originally from southern West Virginia. Back
in my undergraduate days I wrote short fiction and poetry that
was published in my college's literary magazine, but have concentrated
on non-fiction in recent years. I enjoy writing about my memories
and experiences growing up in Appalachia and also enjoy telling
stories related to my years in the classroom. I have had inspirational
and personal experience pieces published in The Joyful Woman
and Daily Meditation. I am interested in writing a
regular newspaper column that might one day develop into a collection
for a book.
This
Web site is a free service provided by the Chattanooga Writers Guild to encourage
